As a missionary kid who grew up in East Africa, Dr. Richard Knapp witnessed faith in action consistently. He saw tremendous answers to prayer as revival swept through Tanzania in the region where his parents (Doug and Evelyn Knapp) were stationed. Over and over he saw the impossible come to pass because of the great faith of God’s people. His “well of salvation” in the area of faith was dug early.
From watching his parents and other men and women of God, he also learned about faithfulness, good stewardship, giving and obedience. He observed the positive benefits and rewards of following scriptural principles in these areas, as well as the consequences for not following them. Walking out some of the truths he learned, he was able to go through college (University of South Florida) and medical school (Oral Roberts University, ’84) debt-free. That was the beginning of a life-long journey of seeing God move in every situation.
As both pathologist and minister, Dr. Knapp’s journey has taken him around the world serving in many capacities. He has travelled internationally sharing the gospel in word and song. He was ordained in central Georgia, sent to start a church in northeast Tennessee, and is currently serving the Lord in East Alabama. He is a passionate worshiper, a discipler of men, a teacher and an intercessor.
Dr. Knapp and his wife are active counselors, and have seen first hand the pitfalls that can trip up Christians and keep them from fulfilling God’s call in their lives. He recognizes that finances can be a great tool for the kingdom or a great hindrance, and feels called to share the spiritual principles of finances that he has learned to enable Christians to be “the head and not the tail” in the area of finances.
Professionally, Dr. Knapp has tasted success as Laboratory Director and staff pathologist in health facilities in several states, and is a licensed pathologist in the states of Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. He has also experienced extended periods of unemployment and the natural and spiritual challenges that go along with that. He is transparent and open about these experiences, to help others traverse the road he had travelled and experience the victory he has obtained.
Dr. Knapp and his wife Martha live in east Alabama with their two daughters and Martha’s sister Pam. Their two sons and daughters-in-law live nearby. They are all passionate for Jesus and active in their local church, where they are “pressing on toward the mark for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
